A lot can happen over the course of a weekend, and certainly when Friday is included, which is often the case for those who understand that the last day of the week has special powers, similar to the weekends. -end.
You can clean out the hallway closet during that three day window, or wash your car, or even write a few thank you notes, the ones you pushed back (but really should get there, like, ASAP).
But what if you are a particularly robust and colossal Corpse Flower?
You could, if you feel it, grow 18 inches, a full foot and a half, during the period from Friday to Sunday.
This is exactly what happened in San Marino, where a particularly large number Amorphophallus titanum now graces the conservatory of the Huntington Library, Art Museum and Botanical Gardens.
Staff at the historic leaf-laden property are delighted with the size of this prodigious plant, which “… is poised to claim the title of the Huntington’s greatest #CorpseFlower ever.”
That’s really saying something, as the current Corpse Flower is the 12th of its kind to bloom in the legendary destination.
But wait: this giant of a botanical wonder has yet to flower, as of June 28, although the team observing it is hoping petals will unfold in the days to come.
You can watch the Corpse Flower live, on Youtube, to find out exactly what it is and when it should start releasing its famous stink.
What about the stench? This famous stink has a new name that matches its large scale: Stankosaurus Rex, courtesy of @lwearethesnugglebugs.
Unlike the other Rex who shares his name, Stankosaurus Rex won’t stomp on The Huntington, roaring and showing his teeth.
But it will give all the human noses in its immediate vicinity something to talk about, if those humans come to visit when the awesome flower is blooming.
